Imphal: Government college teachers will resume duties including classes on Monday, Federation of Government College Teachers’ Associations (FEGOCTA) said on Sunday.
The decision was taken after an agreement was signed between the Government and FEGOCTA on Saturday, the teachers’ body said.
It appreciated chief minister N. Biren Singh, education minister S. Rajen, chief secretary, commissioner of higher education, director of university and higher education and other officials for fulfilling the demands of FEGOCTA.
The state government agreed to give 7th UGC Pay notionally from January 1, 2016. The arrear amount from April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2021 will be given in two instalments in July, 2021 and April, 2022. The cash payment of 7th UGC Pay will be made from July, 2021 along with the arrears of April, May and June, 2021.
As per Cabinet decision of August 6, 2020 the government has already agreed to adopt UGC Regulations, 2018 which prescribes the qualifications for recruitment, criteria for promotion, service conditions, duties of the teachers etc in the colleges.
What was missing in the order of February 25, 2021 by Higher Education will be clearly mentioned in the new order which will be issued in two weeks time, FEGOCTA general secretary. N. Somorendro Singh said.
FEGOCTA appeals to the government to implement the agreement by issuing the complete orders of 7th UGC Pay and Regulations, 2018 at the earliest.
