Imphal: A programme on Awareness on Prevention of Substance and Drug Abuse was organised by the District Administration Imphal East district and district social welfare officer, Imphal East in co-ordination with Apunba Luwangsangbam Clubs at Luwangsanbam Makha Leikai Community Hall, Luwangsangbam on Tuesday.
The function was graced by P. Bimola Devi, Adhyaksha, Imphal East Zilla Parishad as chief guest and Khumanthem Diana Devi, deputy commissioner as president. Shamim Ahmad Shah, ADM, Imphal East, Ngangom Uttam Singh, director, social welfare, Manipur, Kshetrimayum Ravikumar, IPS, SDPO, Lamlai, Elangbam Amuthoi, MCS, BDO Heingang CD Block, Salam Rajen Singh, personal secretary to chief minister, Manipur, Sanjenbam Angou Singh, Pradhan were the guests of honour.
Uttam, Jibanmala, project director, Kripa Foundation and Kshetrimayum Ravikumar were the resource persons of the days function. Uttam emphasised on the need for strong and friendly relationship between parents and children to prevent from the drug abuse. Jibanmala spoke about the behavioral change which took place on the children who are using drugs and the need to know the minute change of behavior by their children. Ravi Kumar highlighted the steps being taken up by the Police Administration and the need to make aware the NDPS Act.
Bimola mentioned the strive by the chief minister on the War on Drug and appealed all the members present to co-operate the state’s effort to eliminate use of drugs. She further appealed to start from self from our own family as the time has come we act. And Diana highlighted that Imphal East district stay silent as there are pockets in Imphal East which are amongst the vulnerable pockets.
The programme was concluded with a pledge to eliminate the use of psychoactive substances from Heingang AC from the day itself.
