Imphal: Social welfare and MAHUD minister Henry Okram on Wednesday inaugurated a 4-day long 12th Annual Art Exhibition including Photography 2020 at Imphal Art College, organised by Arts Society Manipur.
Henry said Manipur is endowed with rich art and culture and has produced many acclaimed artists in various fields including sculpture, paintings etc. He hoped that many artists will bring more laurels for the state in the national and international competitions.
Such exhibition creates a space for young artists to showcase their ideas, creativity, expressions and talents, he said.
The minister said after hearing the problems and grievances faced by the artists of the state, he will apprise the situation to the chief minister N. Biren Singh to look into the matter.
He appealed to the people of the state to collectively work for the development various fields of Art in the state.
Henry handed over the 12th Annual Art Award 2020 and Honourable Mention of the 12th Annual Art Award 2020 to Waribam Nelopal Devi and Sairem Satyajit Singh respectively.
Principal of Imphal Art College, A. Hemanta Singh, president of Arts Society Manipur, Y. Nabachandra Singh, various artists and others attended the function, an official press release said.
