Imphal: Joint action committee contractual staff nurse, MTS (multi-tasking staff) of three Covid-19 quarantine centers has demanded for service extension with pure contractual basis and to clear due honorarium.
The committee staged a protest rally in front of RD wing, Lamphel, Imphal West on Monday.
The staff nurse and multi-tasking staff were engaged for a period of three months in daily wages contractual basis especially for the covid connected issues.
President of the committee S. Khogen said the daily wages contractual staffs had been discharging their duties by keeping aside the fear of Covid-19 infection but to serve for the people. Some of the staff were tested positive of the contagion.
Beside the contributions made by both the staffs, nurse and multi-tasking staffs, the authority concerned has been failing to pay monthly honorarium after paying for the first two months, he added.
He appealed the government to clear four months due monthly honorarium and urged to extend their daily wages service engagement as pure contractual service.
For the last six months the staffs had been serving for the people as a frontline warrior by taking part in the Covid war, a protestor said.
The protestors marched a rally towards state medical directorate to meet the state health director.
They were stopped by the police personnel at the main gate of health directorate. Three representatives from the committee were allowed to meet health director.
Khogen said during the meeting state health director, K Rajo told them that he had already sent the proposal for service extension to principal secretary (health) on December 27.
He said in various districts of the state there are many vacant posts for staff nurse and multi-tasking staff. He appeal the chief minister to approve service extension in pure contractual basis so that the engaged staffs and government can get equal benefit and to bring development in the health sector.
