Imphal: Eleven Manipur government school teachers have been placed under suspension for not attending school on Wednesday after eight teachers were suspended on Tuesday.
Nine of the suspended teachers were from Lamlong Higher Secondary School and two were from Khonghampat High School.
Orders have been issued in this regard by the directorate of education(S).
Nine teachers of Lamlong Higher Secondary School were found absent when a surprise visit was conducted at the school by a ministerial team on Tuesday. In continuation of the routine visits and inspection of schools, education minister S. Rajen Singh paid surprise visit at Khongampat Government High School, Heibongpokpi Government High School and Khurkhul High School on Wednesday.
While checking attendance register of the teachers during the minister’s visit at Khongampat Government High School, two teachers were found absent.
Rajen also inspected the infrastructures of those schools.
“Surprise visit will continue and try to cover the remaining districts,” the minister said.
He appealed all school staff to be dutiful and sincere to their service at this juncture since Board and Council exams are knocking at the door. He also urged the teachers to work in the interest of the student community of the state.
