Imphal: Manipur has 100 percent Epic coverage and on January 26, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Manipur will launch Epic Mobile Application which will be the first in the country.
Manipur CEO PK Singh said this during the observance of the 11th National Voters’ Day 2021 under the theme “ Making our voters empowered, vigilant, safe and informed” on Monday at Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy, here.
Director general of police LM Khaute appreciated Epic Mobile Application, an initiative taken by the CEO. He said he is also closely associated with the election process over three decades of his career and that the police department is closely working together with various stake holders in the government as well as in other arenas.
Comparing how the past elections were conducted with the present, there is a vast change in the methodologies, strategies and in the spirit of important democratic exercise. In the past, due to lack of infrastructure and security forces, lot of problems were faced in terms of security in the hill areas and elections in those days were very difficult exercise.
He expressed his appreciation of the progress that have been achieved by the Election Commission of India which has applied all the present mechanisms which has bolstered election mechanism in the country and in the state in particular.
“We have adequate mechanism to check all the malpractices and also police nodal officer are also deployed to make necessary security arrangements in accordance with the guidelines of ECI , flying squads are also deployed. Unlike in the past elections, the ECI has been adding series of modern technology based applications,” the police chief said.
PK Singh said, “We as a citizen of India take pride in calling ourselves the largest democracy, even though we may not be the most developed country, election after election we have demonstrated that the fabric of democracy has strengthened. If we look at the way we held our elections, within 6/7 hours, the results are out without any controversy in any state where the general elections were held. This is the day when we celebrate this democracy of ours in state and district levels.”
The CEO shows his appreciation to all the ROs, DEOs, EROs and BLOs for all support they have rendered.
State Awards were also conferred to Neeta Arambam, IAS for Best All Round Performer and EROs of 30-Lilong AC, 27-Moirang and 29 Kumbi ACs, 7- Andro AC,21- Naoriya Pakhanglakpa, 22- Wangoi, 58- Churachandpur AC, 50- Kangpokpi AC and to 61( sixty one) BLOs including one (L) Sheingam LH.
Epic Cards and badges were also distributed to 11 newly enrolled voters and also to four SVEEP Icons. State Election Commissioner, Manipur, Nungsitombi Athokpam and joint secretary (election) K. Bono Singh among others attended the observance.
