Imphal: Manipur Police has arrested three vehicle lifters and recovered five four wheelers from them.
In the recent past reports of stolen Vehicles especially EECO van were received from different area of Imphal, especially Thangal and Paona Bazar in which cases were registered at different police station, police said.
Due to increase number of stolen EECO van cases a special team of city police station and one dedicated police officer in civil dress were formed under the strict supervision of SP Imphal West (IW), SP-IW (L/O), SDPO-Imphal and OC City PS (police station).
The team was engaged in a strict vigil in the around the Thangal and Paona Bazar area. The Team collected CCTV footage from the relevant areas and angles of PS of the cases. On analyzing the footage, it was revealed that the unknown accused persons have committed the crime by using one alto car bearing registration number MN-06-LA-6827 as the conveyance of the crime. Afer identifying the car number, the special team could established the owner and use of the said Aulto car as one Kshetrimayum Victor alias Boi, 46, son of Ksh. Ibohal of Singjamei Chingmakha Kshetri Leikai, Imphal West.
On Thursday, teams of City PS and escort party of additional SP ,IW raided the house of Victor Boi and arrested him. The Alto car, siiver in colour which was used as conveyance of crime was recovered from him.
In the follow up action two of his co-accused, Roshan Yuninam, 50, son of Y. Maharat Singh of Singlamei Yumnam teikai, at present staying at Mahhabali Kabui Khul and Mangpu Misao, 59, son of Limkhohen Misao of Haokip Veng, Sanjenthong, Imphal East were arrested on the next day.
The Alto car and four EECO vans were recovered from the lifters.
The vehicle lifters were remanded to police custody for a period of five days.
The accused persons went in groups on a vehicles (Alto car) and searched for newly brought EECO Van which are parked in the bazaar area. After finding such vehicles, they break the fuel lock of the vehicles. And they prepared the key to the main key of the vehicles inside the vehicle they brought. They prepared the key from the Fuel Cap and used it to open the vehicle and lifted the vehicle. They very professionally prepared the key in about 20/30 minutes.
After lifting the vehicle, they search for a suitable buyer and sold it to them for a handsome amount, police said.
The investigation of the case is in good progress, it added.
