Imphal: Renowned journalist of Manipur, Khelen Thokchom Thokchom was remembered in commemorating his 60th birth anniversary in a function organised at Manipur Press Club, here on Tuesday.
Khelen Thokchom Trust, Manipur observed the anniversary as ” Remembering Khelen Thokchom”.
Floral tribute was paid to the portrait of the departed journalist.
Khelen, who was a special correspondent of The Telegraph, passed away on April 1, 2017.
The trust announced Ng. Liklaileima of Sangai Express as Media fellow for the year 2020-21.
For this year the topic for the media fellowship is “Challanges and Opportunity of Urbanisation in Manipur”.
All Manipur Working Journalist Union’s president Bijoy Kakchingtabbam announced the fellowship in the gathering.
The trust carry a case incentive of Rs 50, 000.
The media fellow from among applicants was selected by a jury entrusted by Khelen Thokchom Trust.
This was the third media fellowship rewarded by the trust. The fellowship was initiated with the motive to promote journalist and to strengthen journalism in the state to help push the society in positive direction.
Previous years media fellows were felicitated during the anniversary observation. They shared their experience and troubles in making their stories.
The function was organised maintaining Covid-19 SoP.
