Imphal: Petrol is sold in Imphal at Rs 120 in the black markets during this lockdown while few petrol pumps are allowed to open for those belonging to essential services departments in the Capital city of Manipur.
Out of 37 oil pumps (IOCL) in the state only nine oil pumps are allowed to open during this lockdown. Only two NRL pumps are allowed to open.
The lockdown has been extended till August 31with the rising in number of Covid-19 cases in the state.
The oil pumps are allowed to open during 7 am to 2 pm. On Thursday two separate long queues were seen at Khuyathong in Imphal West for two wheelers and four wheelers lining towards PCTC oil station.
According in an order issued by the consumer affairs, food and public distribution (CAF & PD) department the 11 oil pumps which are allowed to open are to issue oil to the vehicles possessing curfew pass, health, power, CAF & PD, water resources and other departments covered under essential service.
Petrol in water bottles was seen selling in open at the Khoyathong footpath after the oil station ends its day service. It was also found selling at small shops in the nearby areas.
They sell the petrol at Rs 120 per litre.
An illegal petrol trader said there was a time when the petrol was sold at Rs 200-350 per litre.
The original price of Petrol as on Thursday was Rs 84.28 in Imphal West district.
