Imphal: Health and family welfare minister L. Jayantakumar Singh on Monday distributed medical Os to truck drivers at Keithelmanbi, along Imphal Jiribam road.
Health protective items like hand sanitiser, face mask, face shields etc. were handed over to the drivers and handymen of the trucks plying along the Imphal Jiribam road. The state government, specially the health department is very much concerned about the health and hygiene of the people during this pandemic period of Covid-19.
The minister lauded the role played by the truck drivers during the nationwide lock down. The fearless effort of the drivers to provide essential food items during this juncture was also appreciated by the minister.
He said that the truck drivers of other routes will also be provided with protective health gears as similar to today’s occasion. He said that maintaining SOPs by every one of as is an effective may to contain this pandemic of Covid-19. Such event will also be organised at ISBT, Chingmeirong as next location, he added.
He said the health department will also provide necessary medicines when required by the associations. Necessary instructions have also been served to the concerned department to take up immediate step when report of any Covid related cases received by the health department.
The occasion was jointly organised by the Manipur Truck Drivers’ Association and Highway Truck Owners’ Welfare Association.
