Imphal: Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) has been shut down till July 29 in wake of the rising number of COVID-19 cases among the staff of the hospital.
However, the flu clinic near the isolation ward and laboratory services of VRDL and MDRU, RIMS will function as usual, an order issued by medical superintendent, Prof. Ch. Arunkumar Singh on Sunday said.
The order said epidemiological investigation and contact tracing inside RIMS has been initiated by the Community Medicine department.
All heads of departments and units were directed to reinforce the infection prevention and control measures very strictly to contain the spread of the contagion.
It directed the head of departments to submit the names of doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers who were left out of COVID-19 testing. It also instructed the vice-president, CRED, RIMS to take up urgent sanitisation with disinfectants.
