Imphal: Pensioners under the umbrella of Manipur State Pensioners’ Union staged a sit-in demanding the government solid implementation of 7th Pay Commission’s recommendation, on Thursday at Singjamei Chingamakhong, here.
It is unfortunate that the government so far fails to meet the demand of employees and pensioners, president of the pensioners union, M. Rajendra said.
The pensioners union, Manipur Government Services Federation and Manipur Secretariat Services Union signed a memorandum of understanding with the state government on June 8, 2018 for implementation of the 7th central pay.
The pensioners demanded to fully materialise the agreement in the memorandum.
Out of 17 percent of DA and DR to be provided as per the 7th Pay Commision’s recommendation only three percent are furnished to the government employees. The remaining 14 percent of DA and DR should be provided to the employees, Rajendra told reporters.
Among others, the pensioners union demanded to fix the pay anomaly of all service post in one go.
“In continuation of our strike we are staging this protest today,” Rajendra said.
