Imphal: In continuation of the police drive against lockdown violators a sum of Rs 1,22,490 was collected as fine against 1104 violators and 842 vehicles were detained.
A release by additional director general of police (L/O), L. Kailun said the lockdown violators were detained from different areas of the state by respective police station of the entire district on Thursday.
The violators were produced before the concerned district magistrates and fines were imposed under National Disaster Management Act, 2005.
The state police department warned that strong legal action will be taken against those who violate the lockdown or who do not wear face mask in public or not maintain social distancing.
Thoubal district and Imphal West recorded highest number of lockdown violators. Thoubal Police detained 344 violators, 260 vehicles and collected Rs 36,100 as fines. Imphal West Police detained 271 violators, 218 vehicles and collected Rs 13,730 as fines.
Tengnoupal, Churachandpur, Kamjong and Pherzawl did not have record on lockdown violators detention on Thursday, it added.
