Pothashang News Service: Imphal, April 12, 2020: Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh greeting the people of Manipur on the ocassion of Cheiraoba, New Years Day of Manipur, urged the people to take maximum precaution to stop spread of the Covid-19.
Cheiraoba falls on Monday.
As the day marks the onset of a new year, let us renew our fraternal bond and unity among different communities and strive for bringing inclusive development in the state, Biren said in a message extended on Sunday.
“On this occasion, I once again exhort the people of Manipur to take maximum precaution to stop spread of the Covid-19, which is wreaking havoc across the globe,” he said.
“Avoiding social gathering and maintaining social distancing are the key measures which we all need to observe to break the chain of infection of this dreaded disease. We need to restrict the celebration to observance of ritual prayers in the safety of our homes,” he added.
“Let us once again pledge to protect our community and population through our individual and collective responsible action. May God bless us all,” Biren wished his people.
Manipur government had earlier announced prohibition of festival gathering among other social gatherings with the imposition of lockdown in the state.
