Pothashang News Service: Imphal, March 18, 2020: Supreme Court has directed to restrain forest and environment minister Th. Shyamkumar from entering the Manipur Legislative Assembly complex and he has been ceased from being a minister.
Disqualification of Shyamkumar has been left by the Supreme Court to the Speaker’s Tribunal, said Congress MLA Keisham Meghachandra on Wednesday.
Manipur Legislative Assembly secretary notified earlier that the judgement of the Speaker’s Tribunal regarding the final hearing of Shyamkumar’s disqualification case would be announced on March 28.
If the tribunal fails to disqualify on the same day, the Supreme Court will disqualify Shyamkumar, said Meghachandra.
The Speaker’s Tribunal headed by Speaker Y. Khemchand conducted the final hearing of the case on February 4 and reserved its judgement.
Minister Shyamkumar has been facing a disqualification case under the anti-defection law after he extended support to the BJP-led coalition government even though he was elected from Andro Assembly Constituency on Congress ticket.
