Pothashang News Service: Imphal, February 16, 2018: A Manipur folk tale book entitled “The Tales Of Kanglei Throne” written by Linthoi Chanu has been release today at the auditorium of Ibotombi Institute of Education, Kha Naorem Leikai, Canchipur.
The book release event was hosted by Council of Teacher Education(CTE) Manipur.
Professor Nilima Bhagyabati, international secretary general, CTE said NorthEast states are extremely rich in folktales and a young girl like Linthoi who has written and published book based on the folktales of Manipur is very motivational for the young generation.
Folktales need to be digged out to the public so that one can understand the tales tale by our ancestors rather than keeping it just for the record in a close closet, she added.
Arising a question, Professor Nilima asked, why the habbit of reading is gradually declining day by day?
One should take serious to the habit of reading as nowadays many are more taking sides on mobile phones, games and television among others.
Writing skills and creativity must be encouraged by parents and teachers as we need younger writers like Linthoi and take the leadership to bring out stories that today’s generation have forgotten, she added.
We the elders, parents, teachers duty is to encourage our childerns to write so that their writingand creativity skills can be promoted and put in front of the world in the form of books, said,Nilima.
Dr. RK Sanajaoba Singh, Principle, Ibotombi Institute of Education and Dr. RK Nimai Singh, Retired IAS attended the event as president and guest of honour respectively.
Dr Irom Gambhir Singh, president CTE, Manipur and Joseph Nshimbani, EUMIND, Finland were the resource persons in the function.
