Pothashang News Service : Imphal, February 27: People of Khundrakpam and Saikul Assembly Constituency have ‘socially’ boycotted their MLA Thokchom Lokeshore, who is former Speaker, alleging him of misleading the House.
Lokeshore told the House that he has no obstruction in construction of district hospital and veterinary office at the constituency even as he obstructs in the process of land acquisition, said Peace and Development Coordinating Committee (PDCC) general secretary PDCC A. Joy.
Talking to the reporters at Manipur press club Joy said the former Congress chief minister by Okram Ibobi laid the foundation stone for construction of Imphal East district hospital at Khundrakpam in 2011.
The construction of the hospital has not yet been taken up due to not handing over of lands by two out of six land owners. Health minister L. Jayantakumar visited the propose site and gave order to start construction. However Lokeshore obstructed the land owners from handing over their lands to the government, said Joy
The two who fail to hand over the land are MLA’s mother and his wife. What is the agenda behind all this, asked Joy.
The former Speaker who took the initiative for the construction did not complete the formalities besides taking up fencing work of the site. The frontal side is not yet fenced. However, in the recently completed assembly session he wrongly informed the house that the fencing has been completed at the cost of Rs. 2crore. He also told the house that all the formalities to acquire land have been completed and asked the House to construct the district hospital in the nearest future, said Joy.
Now, there is possibility of sifting the site of the hospital to another constituency. If so, our MLA should be responsible for this, he added.
We social-boycott the MLA and get ready to launch agitations. We will disclose in details the fraudulence of the MLA to the public next by next including misuse of local area development fund and misuse of Imphal-Saikul road fund without construction. He has misused 80 percent of development funds. We have the evidence said Joy.
We are offering time to clarify his mistakes to the MLA for his misconducts, he added.
Veterinary hospital, Sagolmamg, which is more than 40 years old, is in bad condition. The new government has given work order to construct its office. When the contractors came for the work, the MLA this time too obstructed them, said Thoudam Hemjit, a resident of the constituency.
The Sagolmang people suggested another site. The department doesn’t take it as suitable site. The deputy commissioner gave an order to construct it at the existing veterinary hospital.
The MLA again obstructed. But, in the House he said he will not obstruct it again. And two days later he again obstructed the construction, said Thoudam Hemjit.
We feel sigh of having such an MLA in front of the remaining constituencies, he added.
