Imphal, February 4, 2018: Indian cultural delegates represented by Manipur to the 2nd Surin International Cultural Exchange 2018 at Thailand were feted by art and culture minister L. Jayantakumar Singh today in a function held at his office, Imphal.
Jayantakumar said the rich form of art and culture of the state is nowadays gaining momentum. All necessary steps will be taken up to uplift the art and culture of the state in consultation with the chief minister, he added. The minister also presented trophy and citations to the delegates and congratulated the artists for achieving the most outstanding performance trophy, and entertaining performance award.
In the cultural exchange festival the artists performed seven different cultural items including Maibi-Jagoi, Thang-Taa, Pung-Cholom, Dhol-Cholom, Kabui-Jagoi at seven different locations inThailand.
The cultural troupe from Manipur comprised of eight artistes from Rhythms of Manipur and another eight artistes from Sangeet Kala Sangam, Khurai.
Luxmikumar, said the motive of the cultural event is to build new friendship and to strengthen the bond with different countries through cultural exchange.
