STATE LEVEL YOUTH FESTIVAL, 2017 CONCLUDES

IMPHAL, Dec 6 (DIPR): The 22nd State level Youth Festival, 2017 came to an end today at Auditorium, Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.

Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Shri Letpao Haokip; State Director, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Imphal Shri Sahib Singh and Retd IAS officer Shri RK Nimai graced the valedictory function as the Chief Guest, President and Guest of Honour respectively.

Competitions were held in 11 disciplines during the festival that was inaugurated on December 2.

Speaking at the valedictory function today, YAS Minister Shri Letpao Haokip said that today’s youth have immense role to promote the integrity of the State and the Nation.

Manipur is like a mini-India where a number of ethnic communities reside. The unity and integrity of the State and the Nation are essential for progress and the youth can contribute a lot in strengthening the unity and integrity, he said.

Youths are the pillar of the Nation and they must be prepared from now to lead the nation, the Minister said.

He encouraged the participants to be determined to become good leaders as the future of the State and the Nation would be in their hands one day. The Minister also urged them to think positive and do good deeds.

Shri RK Nimai stressed the need to revise the State Youth Policy so that talents are nurtured to their full potential. He even volunteered to offer his service towards this end so that the youth and sports persons of the State are guided in the right direction.

Prizes to winners of various competitions were also presented during the function.

Thongam Zingo of Thoubal, YK Kachangpa of Senapati and Disinang Pamei of Tamenglong were adjudged the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners respectively in Elocution.

In Guitar, Mutum Bharatbushan of Imphal West, Yulhung Shunrei of Chandel and RK Sanjoy of Imphal East came 1st, 2nd and 3rd position winners respectively.

H Babutomba Sharma of Bishnupur, James Rajkumar of Imphal West and Kheengba Sorokhaibam of Imphal East came 1st, 2nd and 3rd position winners respectively in Tabla.

Muhammad Saad of Imphal West was declared the winner in Harmonium while W Bikramjit Singh of Imphal West was declared the winner in Flute.

Th Joygeshwori Devi of Imphal West was adjudged the winner in Sitar competition.

In Classical Vocal, Kh Dhanamanjuri Devi of Imphal West and L Bidyananda Singh of Imphal East came 1st and 2nd respectively.

Th Tolen Meitei of Thoubal, N Illina Devi of Imphal East district and L Sapana Devi of Kakching came 1st, 2nd and 3rd in Classical Manipuri Dance competition.

In the Folk Song competition, Kakching district was declared the 1st position winner while Tamenglong district and Chandel district came 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Imphal East district emerged the winner in Folk Dance competition while Kakching district and Tamenglong came 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Imphal East district was declared the winner in One-Act Play while Thoubal district came 2nd.
