LET’S SHUN THE IDEA OF DISINTEGRATION: CM

Imphal, December 11, 2017 (DIPR): Chief Minister Shri N. Biren Singh has appealed to the people of the State to give up all the thoughts having elements of disintegration. He was speaking at the colourful Golden Jubilee celebration of Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO), Churachandpur at Peace Ground, Tuibong today.

Calling for a united Manipur and India, Chief Minister urged the people of the State belonging to different communities to forget and forgive the past mistakes and put in collective effort towards upholding the integrity and unity of the nation and the State. He said, “Let’s work hard collectively for the future of our children and youths, and also for a new Manipur where there is no community difference”. Let us create an environment where people would live with mind without fear, he added.

Reminding his close and long association with KSO, the Chief Minister said that he was happy to have the privilege of attending the Golden Jubilee celebration to offer his salutation to the students’ body for their contribution towards maintaining unity of the State and oneness among the people.

Stating that the scenic beauty of Churachandpur is so bountiful and people’s talent so immense, the Chief Minister exhorted the gathering to tap these potentials to bring inclusive growth and development. Lauding the Kukis as brave, hugely talented and high principled people, the Chief Minister said that the community has many imminent personalities and high ranking officials in almost all the Departments of the State Government.

Regarding development of the district, the Chief Minister said that the new Government has been paying attention to least developed areas of the district like Henglep and Behiang roads though it is also giving equal importance to development of infrastructures and roads of district headquarters as well.

Shri N. Biren Singh also announced that he had discussed the proposal of setting up a private medical college at Churachandpur with Agriculture Minister Shri V. Hangkhanlian, who is also the circle MLA of Churchandpur. Chief Minsiter also conveyed to the gathering that the new Government has been working day and night to bring an inclusive development across the State.

Regarding the reported disruption of a Congress-sponsored sit-in-protest at Laipham Khunou within Heingang AC, the Chief Minister clarified that BJP was not involved in the said incident in any manner. He asserted that the ruling party had never indulged in any such low-level politics. The Centre cannot do anything to Manipur without the consent of the people of the State, he added.

Without mentioning any name, the Chief Minister recalled that two leading leaders of the current agitation were the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of the State when the agreement was signed. We should stop blame game, community or religious based politics, he added.
