Imphal, November 27: Chief minister Nonthombam Biren Singh today said state is important than the chief minister’s post on the sideline at the inauguration of two-day Inter-Regional Media Interaction Programme between Myanmar and India at Sangai Hall of Hotel Imphal today.
Talking to reporters Biren Singh said, “State and nation are everything. If something unwanted is going to be passed in my state, then I don’t need to remain holding the chief minister’s post” while answering to the reporters on the question in connection with the Frame Work agreement signed between the NSCN IM and the government of India.
The chief minister said “the Congress is playing blame game” reacting to the charge of the congress government that BJP lacks transparency in concern to the Framework Agreement. “Congress blame game is a continuous process; while they were in power too they made blames”, he added.
United Committee Manipur president Elangbam Johnson has appealed the people of Manipur to stand united to any outcome of the framework agreement that would affect the state territory or its administration. He said even if the government say the Framework agreement does not affect Manipur, it will somehow affect Manipur when the NSCN IM and India government talk comes to a conclusion, has been the apprehension of the people. “Something has to be agreed to the demand of the NSCN IM at the conclusion”, said the UCM president
He was addressing at the Kanglepak Student’s Association foundation day function at Singjamei, today.
The Framework Agreement was signed between the NSCN IM and the government of India on August 3, 2015 with the objective to conclude the years’ long Indo-Naga peace talk. There have been indications bringing a final solution to the peace talk by December or before Nagaland Assembly election that falls in March next year.
People have been demanding what is the content in the agreement since the signing of the agreement that has been kept concealed.
The BJP at the centre and the state have been saying there is nothing in the framework agreement that would affect the unity and integrity of the state.
The Congress has been demanding to reveal what is in the Framework Agreement before the peace talk result harms the state’s integrity.
