Imphal, November 26: Death figure of road accident that killed a bridegroom has reached to six after another two succumbed to injuries at Shija Hospital and Research Institute; one remained critical.
Four died instantly at the accident spot at Moirang Palli area along the road connecting Thoubal and Yairipok, near Somendrosana Higher Secondary School, Thoubal Kshetri Leiakai Moirangpali.
Seven of them including a bridegroom were returning from attending Mangani Chakouba, a grand feast after five days of marriage at the bride’s residence. The bride’s residence was at Yairipok Wangkhem Huidrom Leikai and the groom’s resident was at Khekman Maning Leikai, Yairipok.
The mishap took place at around 2 pm yesterday.
The bride groom was Maibam Meghachandra, 18 son of M. Sanatomba. Other three who died at the accident spot were Thongam Jupiter, 18, son of Th. Ingocha, Asem Amujao 17, son of A. Ibopishak, both from Khengman and Md. Apik 17 from Keibung.
The other two who succumbed at the hospital were Maibam Prabin, 17 son of M. Kumar from Khekman, and Mutum Malemnganba,17 son of M. Bulando from Thoubal Ningombam.
The driver of the car, Okram Premkumar 18, son of O. Noren from Thoubal Okram was said to be under critical condition at Shija hospital.
All the seven were travelling in the Chevrolet UVA car (MN05-A-7065) and crashed at full speed with the Tata 407 truck (MN04-9801) that was coming towards Yairipok.
A case has been taken up by Thoubal police. The driver of the truck was still.
