Imphal, November 15: One militant suspected to be PLA was killed while three others were injured and two AR jawans were injured in an encounter between security force and militants during a search operation between Sajik Tampak and Chamol near the Indo-Myanmar border, this morning.
One of the injured AR jawan was said to be in critical condition, said sources.
The 4 AR launched multiple operation to track down and neutralize the militants after the paramilitary force receive specific inputs of presence of heavily armed group attempting to plant IEDs and ambush security forces.
One AK rifle and three unexploded IEDs have also been recovered by the Assam Rifles troops.
The entire area has been cordoned off by launching additional parties from neighbouring units. Search operations were in progress, said sources.
The encounter was occurred after two personnel of Assam Rifle were killed and injured six others on Monday at Maha Mani in Chandel. Rebel group RPF had claimed that its army PLA triggered the blast.
Chief minister Nongthombam Biren Singh had also reacted that no one involved in the Monday ambush will not be spared.
Several organisations the BJP, Chandel, Chandel Naga People’s Organisation, Anal Naga Tangpi, Naga Chiefs Association, Chandel condemned the Monday attack as barbaric and urged the authority to unearth the intension behind the attack.
The NSCN IM yesterday in a statement said the incident was to disturb the peace talk between India and Nagas which is on the verse of solution.
It said such sinister design and devilish act of attacking Indian Arm forces at the heart of district headquarter is nothing but attacking peaceful coexistent atmosphere and instigating another arm conflict between India and Naga forces.
The political nature of attacking lndian Arm forces at the Naga populace area is nothing but challenging Nagas people movement and its logical conclusion as a Nation, the statement said.
