Imphal, September 12: Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur in collaboration with the National Council of Educational Research & Training, NCERT today organised a 5-Day workshop on the techniques of paper setting and evaluation conducted.
The workshop was inaugurated by L.Mahendra Singh, chairman of the council at the central Hall, G.P.Women’s college. Imphal, today.
Dr.M.Bidyasagar, secretary of the council, Prof. A.D.Tiwari, head of planning and monitoring division, NCERT, New Delhi and Dr.B. Lalhari Sharma, principal, G.P.Women’s college, Imphal were the presidium members on the launching day.
Five Resource Persons from NCERT, New Delhi – Prof. A.D.Tiwari, Head, planning & and monitoring division, Prof. R.K.Parasar, Prof. Ramakar Raizada, regional institite of education Bhopal, Dr.K.Chandrasekhar regional institute of education Ajmer and Dr.Satrupa Palit, NERIE, Shillong and 72 local resource persons from different Colleges and Higher Secondary Schools in the state are taking part in the workshop.
The workshop is the 4th of its kind after being organized in 1995, 2003 and last year 2016. The council has certain limitations in organizing such workshop frequently due to the constraints in the fund. However, holding of such workshop regularly is very much needed in order to update the examination reforms being taken up at the national level and also to impart capacity building among our educators, said Dr. M. Bidyasagar.
Last year in the first phase we have taken up 13 subjects from Arts, Science and Commerce streams and conducted the workshop from our own resources. This year we have included all main subjects a total of 36 subjects. The NCERT, New Delhi has granted the financial assistance to meet the expenditures for the conduct of the 5-Day workshop including TA/DA of all participants, added Dr. M. Bidyasagar.
Prof. A.D.Tiwari, NCERT delivered lecture on the National Curriculum Framework such as the introduction of typology of questions which call for reasoning, critical thinking and problem solving abilities rather than memorization of facts. He also laid special emphasis on the quality of questions used in the evaluation of students. “Because it is these questions which lead to the improvement in the thinking ability of the student. This will definitely enhance the quality of education”, said Dr. M. Bidyasagar.
The workshop will continue till September 16 with a valedictory function at 3.00 p.m. The recommendation of this workshop will be submitted to NCERT, New Delhi and COHSEM.
