Imphal, September 2, 2017: Pothshang today came across two private security employees employed in Goa, who felt distressed on not opening the railway ticket counter at MSRTC complex in Imphal.
Both of them happened to ask our reporter if he could help to get contact with any staff of the railway counter at the MSRTC complex. They told Pothashang that they were there to cancel the railway tickets at the counter, which was found closed.
They found on the door written “ working hours 8 am to 12 noon, 1 pm to 3 pm, Sundays and Holidays 8 amto 10: 30 am”. Today was state holiday for Id-Ul-Juha and Heikru Hidongba. They reach the ticket office at around 2 pm.
They were to catch the train to travel from Dimapur to Goa. However they have returned back as the Imphal-Dimapur road was cut off due to landslides. They were from Andro, Imphal East and Kakching Khunou, kakching district.
“We wanted to cancel ahead of train departure time by charging just Rs.40 per ticket we could save Rs. 2,000”, said Y. Sharat from Andro. “It is not just about money, it is about the inconveniences we face today”, added his companion Ksh, Suvashchandra from Kakching.
They were to go back to to their homes. They also wanted to know about the available train for the same route in the week while they cancel the ticket.
They said, there are no railway stations in the state so that they could go there and do the needful. “The counter should be opened round the clock. The state authory should take serious on this issue so that many people shall not suffer like us”, said Sharat.
