The 71ST Independence Day was celebrated at the Senapati District mini stadium ground today. The celebration started with the flag hosting ceremony by the Deputy Commissioner, Shri Athem Muivah. All together 38 different contingents of Manipuri Police, NCC, Higher secondary Schools, High schools, Upper primary schools and a Band party of 34th Assam Rifles, Maram took part in Independence Day Parade today.
Speaking on the occasion Shri Athem Muivah pays due honour and respect to all the freedom fighters of the country, and also says that many precious lives were sacrifice on the altar of freedom, fighting against alien rule since the first war of Indian independence in 1857. He further said that its time to introspect and ask ourselves that besides achieving political freedom are we really free from Poverty, Ignorance and Intolerance
Mentioning some of the initiative taken up by the district administration towards child care and betterment of education he says that the administration with the cooperation of other government departments of the district, have selected some government schools for adoption and also taken up steps for the uplifment of girls child who had dropped out of school due to financial or other reasons.
In today’s function as part of the Commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the Salutary Quit India Movement of 1942, Shri Athem Muivah lead all the dignitaries present in taking the New India Pledge of “ Sankalp Se Siddhi” (New India Movement 2017-2022) to build a new India , a Clean India, a Poverty Free India, a Corruption Free India , a Terrorism Free India, a Communalism Free India, a Casteism Free India.
As part of today’s celebration two village headmen, one village elder, one village chief and two village chairmen were facilitated with Red shawls as an honour.
Today’s Independence Day Parade was divided into two categories, in the NCC category Mount Zion hr. Sec. School (Boys) and Mt. Everest hr. Sec School took the first and the second position respectively. In the School category Mt. Everest hr. Se. School (girls), St. Anthony’s School (girls) and St. Anthony’s school (Boys) stood first, second and third respectively.
Today’s function was also attended by SP Senapati, Addl. SP Senapati, and all the DLOs of the district.(DIPR)
