With aims to create mass awareness and to pledge for eyes donation after death, Saksham, Manipur Prant is organising the ‘Eye Donation Campaign Fortnight’ programme on 25th August, 2017 at Iboyaima Sumang Lila Shanglen, Konung, Imphal. The campaign will continue till 8th September 2017.
Speaker Manipur Legislative Assembly, Shri Y. Khemchand Singh and Chairman MPCB & KVIB, Government of Manipur Shri L. Radhakishore Singh will grace as Chief Guest and President respectively in the inaugural function of the campaign.
It is worth to recall that the National Eye Donation Fortnight is observed every year from 25th August to 8th September. The National Programme for Control of Blindness (NPCB) estimates 20 percent of the global blind population. According to this estimate 25,000-30,000 cases are added every year in the country.
