Art & Culture minister Shri L. Jayantakumar Singh has said that the cultural relationship between Manipur and Tripura especially with those Manipuri in Tripura, should be kept up. Speaking in a Press Conference at the Conference Hall of the Minister at Old Secretariat Imphal today, Shri Jayantakumar Singh said that the cultural affinity and chronological attachment between the Tripura Manipuri and the statecan’t be ignored.
It may be mentioned that the minister was attending “Tripura Manipuri Cultural Meet-2017” which was held recently at Agartala. Narrating his experience about his first visit to Tripura as Art & Culture minister, Shri Jayantakumar Singh expressed his desire to renovate and upgrade Ibudhou Puthiba Shanglen and Major Chongthamia Ningsing Khubham at Agartala. Rs /-1.5 lakh has also be sanctioned by the Manipur State Government as assistance for Ibudhou Puthiba Haraoba Festival as an initiative to promote Manipuri Art & Culture at Tripura, he added.
He also told that the proposal of the Manipuri at Tripura for the construction of a Guest House at Agartala will be considered after consultation with the Chief Minister. His intentional support to the proposal was also given to the representatives of the place, he added. Minister also appreciated the people of the place for preserving our cultural identities. He also appeals the people of Manipur to know the feelings and intentions of the minority Manipuri in Tripura. (DIPR)
