Chief minister Nongthombam Biren Singh today visited flood affected areas in Imphal East and Imphal West and to take up necessary measures.
Biren Singh visited relief camps of flood affected area at Kymagei and inspected breached river banks at Liong and resultant flooding at the area.
He said immediate camps were set up by concerned MLAs relief materials distributed and new house to be constructed for the homeless.
There were complains on social media for distributing very less food items by government agents as against the quantity provided by the state flood relief committee.
While the state authorities are taking up measures social workers and organisations has also been rendering services to different parts of flood affected areas in the Manipur valley.
All Manipur Skill Development Union (AMSDU) and Loktak Industries today distributed 30 pieces water storage tanks which is of 500 litres to the flood affected people of Mayang Imphal Assembly Constituency.
The water storage tanks were distributed through Parliamentary Secretary Kongkham Robindro Singh, MLA of Mayang Imphal AC.
Robindro expressed gratitude to AMSDU for their humanitarian assistance to the people of Mayang Imphal constituency when the people who have been affected badly by the recent flood are facing scarcity of proper drinking water.
At present most of the flood affected people of the state decry over the unavailability of proper drinking water in their respected areas and the relief camps where they are taking shelter for time being.
Sanglakpam Preshyojit Sharma of Loktak Water Tank said they were able to extend help to the flood victims because of the support from the people of the state by buying their products.
The income they have received has now utilised in extending help in different ways like the distribution of of water storage tanks.
Support from the other business community of the state at such hour is also needed, added Preshyojit Sharma.
MLA K Robindro distributed 600 bags of urea fertilizers to the people of Mayang Imphal Constituency who have been badly affected in the recent flood where thousands of paddy fields, farms have been submerged under water including many houses. The urea fertilizers have been distributed at low price compare to the government rate.
Seram Niken, a social activist from Singjamei has also be distributing drinking water and to flood affected areas of Ucheckon, Khongman, etc,. I am always available round the clock to serve the people, said Niken
Dr. Janatun Begum, assistant professor, Manipur college had contributed costs of JCB and 15 trucks of earth in maintaining the road at Oinam Saombung area which was degrading in miserably due to the incessant rain. People in the locality thanked the lady professor saying the local MLA or the government authority or social workers have not rendered any help.
