Imphal: Minister for Forest and Environment Shri Thounaojam Shyamkumar said, the breathtaking Dzukou Valley is a beautiful gift of the nature to the State. He stressed on the need for the protection and conservation of the rare Dzukou Lily apart from keeping the Dzukou valley clean. He was hopeful that the world can be saved with collective effort.
Shri Shyamkumar, who is also the Minister of MAHUD, Town Planning and Horticulture & Soil Conservation, said, God has given us this beautiful earth to live but now nature has started to wage war against the mankind for its’ misdeeds. He said, nature is showing unnatural phenomenon like heavy hailstones, frequent storms, sudden change in temperature across the world which reflects the ecological imbalance caused by the continuous exploitation by the mankind.
Minister Shyamkumar was speaking as the Chief Guest of the function at the flag off ceremony of the “Mission Clean Dzukou” held on the eve of the World Environment Day 2017 under the theme “Connecting People with Nature” at the Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association (MMTA), Minuthong, Imphal. The mission is jointly organised by the MMTA and Nagaland Association for Adventure Mountaineering and Education (NAAME).
All together 64 trekkers left Imphal, they will cover the journey from the Nagaland side. MMTA and NAAME will observed the month of June to clean the Dzukou Valley and take care of the rare lily. The function was also attended by Shri Meghachandra Kongbam, Director DIPR; Shri N. Ibungochoubi, President MMTA and Yambem Laba, former President of MMTA. (DIPR)
