MAHUD Minister Shri Thounaojam Shyamkumar said, India as a whole nation could achieve complete development only when the minorities and weaker sections progresses.
Expressing happiness Minister Shyamkumar said that, he is fortunate to be able to attend the function organised by the Ministry of Minorities Affairs, Government of India after winning three term elections.
He was speaking as the Chief Guest at the inaugural function of sensitization and career counselling workshop for students of Manipur, aspiring for higher studies and empowerment opportunities organised by the Ministry of Minorities Affairs in collaboration with the National Institute of Public Cooperation & Child Development (NIPCCD), Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India. The workshop was held at the auditorium of Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS), Palace Compound, Imphal.
Minister Shyamkumar said that after winning the election for the first term, he had set his priority to impart education to the minorities and weaker sections of the society.
Lauding the Union Ministry of Minorities Affairs for taking up various projects and schemes for minorities and weaker sections, Minister Shyamkumar said that, the Ministry has played a major role towards imparting education to the weaker sections of society in his constituency.
Shri Shyamkumar, who is also the Minister of Forests & Environment, Horticulture & Soil Conservation and Town Planning, further said that, the Ministry helped in providing infrastructure for the Azad Higher Secondary School, Yairipok and Poiroukhongjil High School, Yairipok in Andro Assembly Constituency. Shyamkumar said, he is proud to state that his constituency has the maximum number of Government School students in the State.
Ameising Luikham, Secretary, Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India, advised students to learn other languages if they plan to take up higher studies in other states. He also advised the students to be clear about their career plans and not waste hard-earned money of their parents/guardians.
Smt. Niva Singh, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India; Dr. J. Suresh Babu, Additional Chief Secretary; officials of MOBC & NIPCDD; more than 500 students and teachers of various schools participated in the workshop.
The workshop was organised with an aim to create awareness, sanitised and equip the students who are leaving for unknown arena in the unknown state. The Ministry’s aim is to endeavour to enable the students to seamlessly adapt them to the new environment and familiarise them with new career opportunities available to them.
A day-long interactive session will be held tomorrow with women PIAs and women beneficiaries under ‘Nai Roshni’ scheme for impact assessment, skill development for economic empowerment of women and exploring employment opportunities along with possibility of synchronizing market potential outside the State.
