Around Rs six crore which was suppose to be given to cadres of Suspension of Operation (SoO) groups as their monthly stipend during the past two years was found unpaid, said chief minister Nongthombam Biren Singh.
Biren Singh said the state’s surrender policy was found not implemented; however, the state government is working for a new surrender policy. For it the government is taking suggestions from the Assam Rifles and the army.
Biren Singh was launching an exclusive website for the Shirui Lily Festival at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat yesterday.
He said an operational unit comprising of representatives of all security agencies would be opened within a week to respond to any law and order problem. A meeting of the Combined Headquarters (CHQs) was held yesterday and it agreed to open an operational unit, added the chief minister.
The meeting deliberated on the killing of two Territorial Army personnel in the recent IED blast near Lokchao and the killing of two cadres of UG groups under SoO pact.
The operational unit would be headed by the chief minister as its chairman. It would be monitored round the clock on rotational basis by police, army, AR, CRPF and BSF.
He stated that no cadres of UG groups under SoO pact should indulge in any unlawful activity. Due initiative has been launched to confine cadres of SoO groups within their designated camps and register their attendance through biometric system, added Biren Singh.
