Sinking of a portion of lmphal-Dimapur highway at Lalmati in Nagaland has stopped loaded heavy vehicles crossing the portion of the highway.
Vehicles weighing over 40 tonnes have been banned from crossing the highway portion and the Nagaland Government has issued a notification to this effect.
The Surface Transport, Eco and Environment Society, Nagaland general secretary Bipin Sophie gave the information through the All Manipur Road Transport Drivers and Motor Workers Union.
Heavy rain in the past few days had resulted to sinking of about 150 feet from Kharakhatti.
