Chief Minister Shri N. Biren Singh today inaugurated a PMKVY Training Centre at Thangmeiband DM College Road (opposite ABC Godown).
Biren Singh said skill development is a must to empower the youths of the State. As par the records provided by different employment exchanges, the state now has more than 7 lakh unemployed youths, added Biren Singh.
Conveying that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a dream to provide employment to every Indian, Shri Biren informed that the state cabinet had decided to operationalise Manipur Skill Development Mission under Labour and Employment Department to make Modi’s dream a reality.
He said that even private firms would provide jobs to many youths if the government takes up the onus to give them skill training.
In order to promote entrepreneurship, the state government would issue an order to all the Departments to effect the maximum use of ‘Make-in-Manipur’ products in their offices, he added.
Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) is a flagship scheme of the Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE). The objective of this Skill Certification Scheme is to enable a large number of youth to take up industry-relevant skill training that will help them in securing a better livelihood.
Education and labour and employment minister Th. Radheshyam and PMKVY National Co-ordinator Shri Hemanta Larma and Manipur Medical Council President Prof. Sinam Rajendra attended the function.
Th. Radheshyam observed that there is a need to give emphasis to train the youths as par industry requirements. Organising skill development programmes for youths would not serve any purpose if they are not trained according to the requirements of the companies or firms, he said.
Highlighting the importance of using ‘Make-in-Manipur’ products in order to promote entrepreneurship in the State Radhwshyam said there is a need to impart awareness on various welfare schemes being taken up by the government.
