Idudhou Thangjing Polo Club rode away with the champion title beating Manipur Police Sports Club(B) by 5-4 goals in the 27th Governor’s Cup Invitation Polo Tournament 2017 played at Mapal Kangjeibung.
The match proved to be an exciting match as both team rubbed shoulders to the last chukker of the game with the presence of veteran rider M.Manihar, proved lucky as he chipped in with the winning goal.
The first chukker were evenly matched with T.Pradeepkumar opening the goal account however Ibudhou Thangjing replied postively with P.Ojit fetching the equaliser. Galloping hard, Manipur Police increased the tally when Th.Kaoba fetch the second goal but Ibudhou rider M.Manihar neutrilised the scoreline with another hit to the goal to level 2-2 goals.
In the second chukker, Ibudhou Thanjing stole the show when L.Lokeshwor changed the statistic of the game as he fetch the third goal to post 3-2 goals. Ibudhou Thangjing continued their winning show when P.Ojit consolidates with another goal in the third chukker but Manipur Police tightens their grip when I.Khaba fetch his team third goal to trial by 3-4 goal.
The fourth chukker saw Ibudhou Thangjing racing ahead with M.Manihar getting his team fifth goal but the policemen in gradual gallops came up with their final goal when T.Pradeepkumar but had to settle for the runner up title.
Ibudhou Thangjing reaped Rs.50,000 along with the champion trophy while Manipur Police had to settle with Rs.30,000 along with runners up trophy.
As for the 16th Governor’s Cup Women Polo Tournament, Imphal Riding Club drubbed K&MM Riding School by 4-0 goals to claimed the champion title. Kh.Habe scored two goals while Kh.Deventy and A.Romabati fetch a goal each for the victory. Imphal Riding Club collected Rs 15,000 while K&MM Riding School got Rs 10,000 along with trophies.
