Demanding the political parties to include the promise to safeguard the territorial integrity of Manipur in their election manifestoes with the guarantee to unveil the points of agreement signed between the NSCN-IM and the government of India, students today protested in front of the offices of various political parties.
The students spearheaded by the All Manipur Students Union (AMSU) stormed at the offices of almost all the political parties to press on their demand.
Manjit Sarangthem, general secretary AMSU asked why the central government not disclosed the points of framework agreement signed between the NSCN-IM and the government of India on August 3, 2015. The political parties should assure the people of Manipur to safeguard the territorial integrity of Manipur, added Manjit.
He said the interlocutor RN Ravi during his visit to Imphal had said there was nothing in the agreement to break the integrity of Manipur. “But why Ravi in a Nagaland based media said the sovereignty and Naga integration may be possible” added Manjit.
The students asserted to continue their demand until and unless the election manifestoes of all the political parties functioning in the state include strong determination as concerned to the integrity of the state.
