Chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh today appealed all the insurgents groups to help unite the people to live happily as brothers in the state by forgiving and forgetting the past errors.
Ibobi Singh was addressing a public gathering at the flag hoisting ceremony of Victor Keishing who is contesting on Congress ticket at Phungyar constituency of Ukhrul district in the ensuing assembly election.
Saying that there are numbers of both hill and valley based insurgent groups in the state and hard to recognise all, the chief minister appealed all the groups to uphold brotherhood amongst all the communities in the state. “We are sons of the soil and people from outside the state cannot bring solutions to our existing issues and problems which can only be solved through dialogue” said Ibobi Singh.
He said the government’s objective is to give equal administration and equal development in both the hill and valley of the state, and seek cooperation from all the organisations and groups to cooperate and support the government to solve the existing sensitive issues and problems of this tiny state.
In the election campaign gathering held at the Imphal residence of Victor Keishing former chief minister and father of Victor, Rishang Keishing, deputy chief minister Gaikhangam and Korungthang were present among others.
