Chief of Election Commission of India Dr. Nazim Zaidi today ensured of good conduct of election of the 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election provided adequate security forces.
Addressing in a press conference held at Hotel Classic Grande Nazim said economic blockade of the United Naga Council will not affect the election process as the election process will receive cooperation from the people who are involved in the economic blockade.
He said despite of the blockade there will be enough petroleum product supply in the state for the smooth conduct of the election.
Candidates numbering 260 are contesting in the election and the commission will take all possible measures to provide a conducive environment in the state so that elections are conducted free and fair, said the ECI chief.
He appealed the people to demonstrate to the entire world that they are committed to strengthening the electorate democracy in the state. “I have instructed anybody trying to disturb the communal harmony should be subjected to strict legal action” added the ECI chief.
The commission have instructed to undertake fresh assessment of location which are vulnerable. So far 18 assembly constituencies have been identified as sensitive.
It has also asked the chief secretary to undertake special drive for prevention of use of liquor during the election process and instructed to produce its progress report in 5-6 days.
Persons with disabilities of around 4, 300 would be provided with facilities like wheel chairs and other related facilities in the election.
