‘Every Vote Counts’ was the theme of State Level Drawing Competition, 2017 organized by the Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur, under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) Campaign.
As many as hundred students took part in the competition held at the Kangsang, Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.
The joint CEO, Hrishikesh Modak said, the top ten winners of the State Level Drawing Competition, 2017 will be felicitated on the National Voters’ Day Celebration the 25th of January in Imphal. While the paintings of the first two winners will be sent to ECI as soon as the result is out whereas their real paintings will be carried to Delhi, with them, for showcasing on the National Voters’ Day Celebration, 2017. They will be felicitated at the National Voters’ Day Celebration, Delhi by the ECI. The two winners will also witness the 68th Republic Day at the national capital of the country. All the arrangement for their journey and the stay – in will be sponsored by the Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur, he added.
The competition held is a part of the numerous activities organised under the SVEEP Campaign to create awareness amongst the general public as a run up to the National Voter’s Day Celebration, 2017. The competition participated by the young painters between the age of 15 & 17of class IX-XII targets to groom the future voters for today and tomorrow’s Participatory Democracy. The participants, being at the right age to get aware for the election of representatives, their participation in such awareness programme defines the true sense of this year’s theme “Empowering Young and Future Voters” of the National Voters’ Day Celebration, 2017.
Hrishikesh delivered a message to the people to participate in the election and vote properly so that the election could be conducted fairly.
